Chong Bee Yang's Funeral & Medical Funding
Donation protected
On December 2, 2021, Tatum Chong Bee Yang (Chong Bee), our beloved husband, father, and grandfather was called home to be with the Lord. Chong Bee was a family man who loved his wife (Sarah), daughter & son-in-law (Elizabeth/David), three sons & daughter-in-law (Ricky/Gao Jer, Aaron, Jeremy), and seven grandchildren (Vincent, Aliveah, Landon, Vera, Morgan, Eva, and Phoebe). Our family has started a GoFundMe account to help raise funds towards funeral and medical expenses.
Chong Bee tested positive for Covid-19 in early November and within a week he started to feel weak and had shortness of breath. On November 18, we noticed he could barely walk up the stairs so we tested his oxygen level. As it turned out, his level was very low and we took him to the hospital that same day. A little over a week passed and he began to show signs of improvement. The doctors even mentioned he would be able to go home before Thanksgiving. We were hopeful that he would make a fast recovery and be home to his loving family.
On November 25, the doctor notified us that his health took a turn and began to decline. On November 28, our family was told that there was a high chance that he would not survive, so we started an end of life plan. Our family planned to see him the next day while he was still alert, but also would try to transfer him home after the visitation if it was possible. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only six people were allowed to visit and only two people could visit at a time. Ricky and David went in first and spent half the day with him. During their visitation, Chong Bee showed signs of life and seemed to be fighting. He said "why do you guys believe I'm dying? I will not die, trust me. I will beat this sickness." Our family changed our care plan, we moved him to a different room, and fought harder for his recovery.
The visitation restriction was still enforced and the family continued to visit him only two by two. Elizabeth and Aaron spent the evening with him. The next day, Sarah and Jeremy spent the entire day with him. Our time at the hospital with him was so precious and we continued to encourage him to fight and stay strong. The next day we noticed his oxygen level was dropping again and he struggled more to breath. In the evening our family came together and connected with him through an iPad. All his grandchildren were able to talk to him and tell him how much they missed and loved him. The morning of December 2, he ran out of strength to fight and his family rushed to the hospital. Chong Bee passed away with his loving wife and beautiful daughter by his side. They comforted him as he was welcomed into the arms of God.
Chong Bee was known for his sense of humor and his caring personality. He always made sure everyone felt welcome and found a special way to connect with everyone. He was well loved in the community and a friend to all. He was our family’s protector, our rock and forever our hero. Thank you to our family, friends and community who continued to pray and support us. Our family remains strong because of all the love you shown for us.
Any amount of donations will be appreciated. Thank You.
