Chorley Gymnastics Club IAIGC 2024

We are Chorley Gymnastics Club!

Chorley Gymnastics Club squad of 16 talented gymnasts, have been competing in specific IGC Competitions throughout the UK, in a bid to qualify for the IAIGC World Championships in Florida, June 2024.

After meeting the required score in 5 local and national competitions, we are extremely proud and pleased to announce that all 16 gymnasts have now qualified to enter the World Championships in Orlando.

10 of the 16 gymnasts and their families, have chosen to travel to the USA to compete.

Our team consists of:

Emily Hawkins age 6 (Copper 1)

Holly Blakeley age 8 (Copper 1)

April Edwards age 8 (Copper 1)

Abigail Hawkins age 9 (Copper2)

Freya Metcalfe age 10 (Copper 2)

Emily Blakeley age 11 (Bronze)

Sophia Shepherd age 11 (Bronze)

Martha Aspden age 12 (Copper 2)

Poppy Hayhurst age 12 (Bronze)

Amelia Ormshaw age 13 (Copper 2)

This years 2024 team have worked incredibly hard for the opportunity to perform on the world stage. They hope to build on last years success and experience the excitement of Orlando.

The All Around competition begins on the 26th June and will run to the 1st July.

Gymnasts compete individually on four pieces; Floor, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Vault. The combined score across all 4 pieces, will determine their overall place within their level and age category.

A percentage of the highest scoring gymnasts from each piece, will then be invited to take part in the Event Finals.

Last year, the club came home with 6 World Champions, 4 All Around Silver Medalists and 3 All Around Bronze Medalists, earning themselves 22 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals, 20 Bronze Medals, 2 Team Golds and a Team Bronze.

The club are actively fundraising to cover the cost of competition entry and registration fees, insurance and team kit and are pleased to welcome our new team sponsor Withnell Sensors, a temperature and humidity specialist. We are delighted to have this local company on board and for them to share in this journey with us.
