CSU Student Chosen to Race Across Siberia in 2017...
I hope my subject line got your attention. My name is Matthew Carnal. I'm in the Exercise Physiology Department at Colorado State University, and I was selected on December 8th as the only male rider from the US to participate in the Red Bull TransSiberian Race in 2017. This is a race to test human endurance, and I hope to do this to motivate more people to exercise, as I believe exercise is the source of positive human health. However, I need your help! I need to raise over $100,000 for this opportunity to send a message to the global community in 2017 that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
It would be pretty cool to be part of this adventure, don’t you think?
Imagine what a story racing a bike 5,800 miles across the Russian Tundra would be! In 2010 I was broke, depressed and crossed the United States on $600 dollars because I lost hope due to the 2008 economic collapse when I lost everything except my will to continue to fight. This ride gave me purpose to continue and I set goals to continue to travel with the freedom the bicycle provides. My most recent adventure in 2014 took me across the Southern Tier of the US in 31 days. I covered 4,563 solo miles during one of the coldest winters in the last decade. I did so on a fixed gear bicycle, which means I could do absolutely no coasting. I believe stories like my 2010 and 2014 adventures allowed my entry into this challenging event, and I’m very thankful for the opportunity.
This is real!!! And yes, It's going to be HARD, but I need the fundraising to be out of the way so I can focus on training in order to better my chance of winning, though finishing within itself is an accomplishment at this level of masochistic endeavor! I
So if you want to be a part of something exciting and track my progress PLEASE fund me here. All remaining funds will be going to purchase bikes for kids in my local community.* To track my training progress leading up to the event, follow me on www.mcendurance.com as I’ll be blogging my training and life as I did in 2010.
Thank you very much for this opportunity, because without you this would not be possible!
*Many of asked me why I'm not raising for a charity or a foundation, the reason is I want to see the money go to where I believe it should. There is less overhead with just me and I can spread the bikes to the kids much further this way.
