Chris and Erin's IVF journey for baby Burchfield

Hi, my name is Erin and my husband's name is Chris. We have been battling with infertility for 5 years. After we got married we decided it was time for us to start a family. When I (Erin) was 16 the doctor warned me that I would more than likely need help from a infertility specialist when the time came.

Once Chris and I got married and settled down we decided to call an infertility doctor. After having test after test done they diagnosed me with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome.) The doctor assured us that we would be pregnant within 3-6 months of starting treatments. We tried multiple different medicines and injections over the first year.

October of 2018 came around and we did our first actual treatment. We did something called an IUI. (Artificial insemination) After waiting two weeks to take a pregnancy test we were so excited to see our results. Unfortunately, we received 4 negative pregnancy tests. After receiving the negative tests we began the medicines and injections again.

A week into the medicines I was in so much pain Chris had to leave work early to come pick me up at work to go to the ER. At the ER the doctor told us we were pregnant, but we were more than likely having a miscarriage. After going to our OBGYN a few days later they confirmed that we indeed were having a miscarriage. We were told the miscarriage could have been caused from starting the next round of treatments. We stopped all treatments for a few months after losing our first baby. We then decided to do another IUI, unfortunately, it did not work. In total we ended up doing 5 IUI's. From the year 2018-2020 we had nothing but negative pregnancy tests.

Unfortunately at that time we could not afford to do any other kind of treatments. December 8th of 2020 came around and we agreed we would be doing our final IUI. After waiting two weeks to take a pregnancy test we got 3 positive tests! We were so excited! I made an appointment with the doctor to confirm the pregnancy. When I went to the doctor they told me that there was absolutely no sign of a pregnancy. Our hearts shattered. I ended up having a chemical pregnancy. We quit all treatments after that.

April of 2021 came, I noticed I had been having some food aversions. I decided to take a pregnancy test for the heck of it and it was positive!! We had gotten pregnant without any medicine!! The doctor monitored me every 48 hours. I was in and out of the doctors office for blood work every other day. We were told we were having a healthy pregnancy. A couple days later the doctor was concerned I was having a tubal pregnancy. Ultrasound's confirmed it was not a tubal. About two weeks later we went back to the doctor and they told us we were having yet again another miscarriage.

We then decided that IVF was our last option. We are going to a facility in New York for IVF. Unfortunately we did not realize how expensive the medicines and trips there would be. We are asking for help so that we can bring a miracle into the world. This means more to us than we could ever explain. If somehow, we receive more money than we need we would absolutely love to donate it to another couple who are going through the same journey that we are. Thank you all for taking the time to read our story.
We appreciate everyone and everything!
