Be with Chris on his Healing Adventure

Chris is our brother! We are Matt, Scott, Shawn, & Cher. He  is a big brother to the boys and a little brother to the girls. Chris Buchholz is a strong, positive, honest, God loving man. He would give you the shirt off his back.  He tells the best stories! In fact, your face will hurt from laughing at them! Helping others is something Chris prides himself on,  and he is kind. He has many friends across the country and even a handful across the Atlantic.

He is a son, an uncle, and a nephew. He is a cousin, a friend, and a brother. Chris is a bagpiper,  he is a Captain, and he is a light worker. We call him our Voice, and he is writing a book that just got a heck of a lot more interesting. One thing he isn’t....is someone who asks for help, so we are asking on his behalf.   Chris has been looking  forward to a dream trip, an adventure! Riding cross country, solo, on his motorcycle. The plan was to visit us in North Carolina, Colorado, Texas, & Connecticut, and also to stop in on his many friends along the way. Apparently God needed him to stay in the area.  A week before he was going to leave on this epic journey his doctor called.  And a new adventure  began.

He has been diagnosed with stage three rectal cancer. This comes  as a total surprise as Chris is always in great health!    After just a few weeks of tests, scans, MRI's and blood panels, it was determined by his team of doctors at Mass General that the cancer is treatable and operable. Thank God!   He is facing  months of chemotherapy, weeks of radiation, and finally surgery.  But wait, there's more. After the last PET scan....his  doctors called. They also found nodules in his lung, unrelated to the first diagnosis.  So after the doctors treat the rectal cancer they will go after the lung cancer... next summer. More chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery is probable at that point.

This will be a long road of healing and Chris is treating it as a new adventure —  “Much like my motorcycle trip, I will be going places I’ve never been, meeting beautiful people along the way, and doing things I’ve never done before!” He is somehow embracing all that comes along with grace, determination, and an interest in the experience . He is not afraid and is going headfirst into the unknown, knowing he is not alone.

Recently Chris said it is his purpose to “Keep the Faith” and he has put his life in God's hands. Meditating, eating healthier,  praying, & staying joyful are on his daily list. The gratitude he feels every morning, when he awakes and finds beauty all around him, is  inspirational. He is inspirational. Surrounded by positive people and thoughts, God and he are walking together through this. We are asking for your help to ease his financial burden and allow  him peace as he walks that walk. This will also let him to focus all of his light and positive energies, with God,  in this new adventure of beating both cancers. He will be traveling to Boston often for treatments, and your generosity will help  offset the many expenses such as  travel, accommodations, co-pays, etc.  And perhaps even  help him with his daily bills when he cannot work.

If you are fortunate enough to have Chris in your life, then you know this is a worthy cause. Some of you have never met Chris, so imagine your funniest friend or the person you call if you need a hand fixing something. That is who Chris is to us! This is a fabulous opportunity to help someone who has helped so many others.  Any amount will help! We are grateful for any donation, even $5!  It all adds up and every drop will fill his bucket.  Please share our link and spread the word. Please say a prayer or leave words of encouragement! Keep it Light! Keep it Positive! Keep the Faith! We love all of you and cannot thank you enough! May God bless you! The Crew

If you know someone in their mid 40’s PLEASE encourage them to have a colonoscopy.  The American Cancer Society now recommends being screened for colorectal cancer at age 45! Guidelines for years have recommended your first check be at age 50; with advancements in technology and an understanding of what to look for 5 years could make a huge difference.  It is NEVER too early. Please make that appointment!! Early detection can save your life, or someone's you love!  KEEP THE FAITH -
