Chris Casey left the world on 8/28/2024. Way too soon. We all are feeling the loss and in utter disbelief.
Chris truly loved life and skateboarding. He grew up skating in St. Louis with his many friends and became a member of Altered Skates of America’s skate shop Team Onion before moving to LA where he became part of Hot Rod Skate-shop crew. He then went on to host the Captain and Casey show on Fuel TV.
“If you ever saw the show, that was a snapshot of what it was like inside of Chris’s mind.” - Matt Solomon (childhood friend and co-creator of the Captain and Casey Show)
Many people have reached out and expressed what they can do. What we can do is help relieve some of the financial burden of Chris’s mom, Cathy Casey. Chris got his ridiculous sense of humor from his mom Cathy and his dad Chucko, who has also passed on. RIP.
After over two decades of being in Los Angeles, Chris moved back to St. Louis to live with his mother to assist her with daily activities. Her health issues had become difficult for her to manage alone. Chris was her caretaker, meal provider, and transportation.
There are many medical, eldercare, and Chris’s end-of-life costs. We are asking you to help unburden his family as much as possible.
At this time, his family is mourning privately. There may be a memorial in the future. Thank you all in advance. I know a lot of people love Chris, so let’s show his family how much we do love him and pay homage to what an amazing son, brother, uncle, and friend he was.
He gave everything he had to skateboarding even until his last day when he suffered a massive heart attack while pouring a concrete quarter pipe at his beloved DIY spot. He lived and died skateboarding, and now it’s time for the skateboard community to step up and thank him for everything he contributed by helping to take care of his mom. Let’s get a Chris Casey memorial skatepark fund started. If there was ever a person that deserved it, it was Chris!
To quote a friend, “Give a dollar for every time he made you laugh, made your day, or felt his love.”
People like Chris are rare, and if he bestowed his love on you, you are so lucky, so fucking lucky!
Quick update: Thank you to everyone who has donated, so appreciated and overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. Sean Casey, Chris’s oldest brother will be managing the donations to help Cathy Casey, Chris Mom with upcoming care.
