Chris Dertz and Family
Donation protected
Chris Dertz, a teacher and coach at Eastland Jr/Sr High School in Lanark, Illinois, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Chris, who is only 49, is a loving husband, father of 3 amazing sons, and a beloved member of the Eastland Community. He started teaching in 2000 and has had a tremendous impact on the many students and athletes he has worked with throughout his career. His booming voice and his warrior like stature, along with his encouraging mindset, make him an unforgettable asset to his communities. Chris served in the US Army from 1996-1999. He was part of A Troop, 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas.
Chris is scheduled to begin his long battle, starting with chemotherapy, at the Carbone Cancer Center in Rockford. This long journey he and Bonnie are on will undoubtedly be stressful and taxing… physically, mentally, and emotionally. Although Chris has medical insurance, there may be many uncovered medical expenses along the way. With other out of pocket expenses incurred during this battle, the financial aspect can become a concern as well. As they try to navigate their new normal, doctor’s appointments, treatments, travel and yes, even teaching, we ask that you keep them in your thoughts. As their fight against this horrible cancer is just beginning, if you feel compelled to contribute, your donations will be greatly appreciated. Chris, Bonnie, and their family are very strong, but as no one ever expects something like this, and we want them to know they will not fight it alone. Please help the Dertz family by sharing this page….any help is greatly appreciated.
