Chris Gunnels' Glioblastoma Cancer Fundraiser

Who is Chris Gunnels?

Chris is 42 years young and has been blissfully married to Kendall Newby Gunnels for 18 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Kensley (14) & Adelynne (10) and live in Athens, AL. Chris has been an educator in the Madison County School System for 20 years. He has been the principal at Harvest Elementary for 5 years. The Gunnels family are faithful Christians who have been members at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church for 15 years.

MEDICAL JOURNEY

Chris recently had his second brain surgery at Duke University Hospital with surgeon Dr. Allan Friedman. Although the surgery was successful at removing the tumor, the cancer was diagnosed as a Grade 4 Glioblastoma by his Neuro-Oncologist Dr. Henry Friedman.

Chris will begin radiation and chemotherapy with Dr. Merrell at Vanderbilt.

By recommendation from Duke, Chris and Kendall are pursuing a groundbreaking Glioblastoma treatment being developed by CeGat, a company in Tubingen, Germany. This treatment will require 13 trips to Germany over a 12-month period.

FUNDRAISING GOAL:

Our fundraising task force will need $85,000 by April 1st for the vaccine alone. A subsequent $85,000 will need to be raised to cover travel and living expenses for Germany. Additional monies raised will go to support the fight against GBM. Our task force is a group of individuals who love and care about Chris and want to raise the funds to beat this terminal diagnosis.
