On Friday ( Oct. 28) Chris Layne was hiking in Clear Creek Canyon. Only a couple of feet off of the trailhead she experienced a major fall between 50 and 60 feet and was stopped by a bush halfway down the canyon wall. She was stabalized and within 25 minutes, first responders were on the scene and within 35 minutes a Flight For Life helicopter had landed on the road to carry Chris out of the canyon. She was taken to St.Anthonys Hospital of Lakewood, a level 1 trauma center and immedetly went into back surgery. She is currently suffering 7 fractured vertebrea, 5 rib fractures and a shattered right wrist. She suffered no major head trauma or internal organ trauma but motor function in the legs is currently unresponsive. She spent 5 days in the ICU and is recovering for now at St. Anthonys Hospital and will eventually move to Craig Hospital, one of the best spinal recovery centers in America. Recovery is looking very promising but will take months of work and rehab. The money from this page will go to supporting medical equipment and treatment, possible home modifications and family support. We would be incredibly thankful for any support.
