Chris Messerer Medical

In July 2020, my nephew, Chris, developed long COVID and was hospitalized over ten times. Doctors tried to figure out what was causing him to pass out frequently. He was referred to Mayo Clinic in January of 2021. There, he was diagnosed with IST disease. While being evaluated at Mayo, doctors also found problems with his bladder, kidney and foot. Surgery was required and done on all three. After undergoing reconstructive surgery on his foot and ankle in May 2021, he was placed in a nursing home to recover. He was released from the nursing home in January 2022 and began inpatient PT at Mercy One. He went home on February 18th. Now he is back in the hospital with severe swelling in his legs and feet.

The financial burden of his medical care has become overwhelming. He will have additional costs related to the physical problems he continues to have. Money raised will be used to purchase an electric scooter, wheelchair, pay medical bills and other expenses related to his care. We appreciate any help you can provide to help Chris and his family.
