Donation protected
NEW UPDATE as of 10:23pm Wednesday 1/17/24. The money to cover Chris’ funeral expenses has been raised. Thank you to all who donated! I’m sure he’s smiling down on us all!

UPDATED: Sadly Chris passed away this morning. His family needs help to give him a proper funeral that he deserves. To those of you who have already donated, they send their sincere appreciation! Anything you can donate would be an immense help and would remove some of the family's worry. Thank you in advance for showing his family love at this difficult time.

PREVIOUS:
I wish I did not have to do this. For those of you finding out this way, I apologize, but the family gave me permission. My dear friend Chris Chujoy and his family need our help. Chris had an emergency major abdominal surgery on 8/28/22 and was diagnosed with stage 4 colon, lung, and liver cancer. The family and Chris are facing ridiculously high medical bills and need help. Chris is struggling to get his short term disability started and will be out of work for at least two months. I spent a few hours with him and his mother at the hospital tonight. He is strong and not one to complain but he was obviously in a lot of pain even with medication. He is currently trying to recover from his surgery that has left him with a large stapled up incision down most of his torso and has a bag (forget the name) to empty his bowels. His mother shared with me that those bags come in a pack of 20 and are $75! He will need a lot of them. He has used up all his sick days as well, if you work with him or in Red Clay donating 2 days will give him 1 day and that would be a huge help!

Chujoy has always been one to lift others up, to help people in need, and to simply pass well wishes to everyone he met. If you have worked with him you have seen his generosity, especially around the Chinese New Year. He would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it. The picture I shared is of him and my daughter when she was sad that COVID prevented her from having a graduation from pre-k so Chris and his mom drove over with all sorts of goodies for Zoey to make her happy. He did this kind of stuff all the time for so many people.

While he and his family appreciate the flowers and cards they have received, they would much prefer homemade notes on paper to cards and the money that would be spent on flowers and gifts to be sent directly to them for the medical bills as they are in need.

Please keep Chris in your prayers and if you are able please donate whatever you can. Every bit helps! Also sharing this as much as possible would help!

(FYI: gofundme made me pick an amount. I don’t remember the amounts of the bills but it’s much more than the goal here.)
