Chris' Post Cancer Surgery & Following Treatment

It's been a crazy end of 2022 and even wild 2023. Some of you know that my dad, Chris, was diagnosed with cancer that is and has changed his life. Right before Thanksgiving, our family was given some vague still unsure news that Chris has cancer and surgery was needed. So on December 20, 2022, he went into surgery. None of us were prepared to know the final diagnosis. He ended up having a lot of lymph nodes removed, his right side palate and tonsils. It wasn't the ideal surgery the doctors wanted, as they wanted to get all of the cancer removed, but it was more extensive than expected causing more removal of the throat, which now causes my dad to rely on the people who understand him best to communicate for him. My mom and I have been doing our best to advocate, but if anyone knows him, slow is not his way of life. His communication is getting better but still a long road ahead to attempt to feel normal again. We are continuing treatment with radiation and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, because my dad has failing rods on some teeth, they now need to be removed and sooner rather than later. This means that we need to pay a dentist bill quickly and although insurance covers some of it, it will not cover it all. It is not easy dealing with having cancer alone and now to have to go through this strenuous surgery just to get cleared to begin radiation is more of a hardship than expected. Anything would help because, at this point, he needs this surgery to be done in a week and the time to get this money is not on our side. I am not here for sympathy and neither is my dad, but we all ask for the continued prayers and to understand that a GoFundMe is not our way of wanting to do things, but all we can do is ask.
