Chris was an incredible woman, taken from us far too soon. Chris made us, family, friends, neighbors, her patients and even strangers, feel loved, listened to and cared for. She was a mother to all. She was the baby whisperer, the toddler playmate, and the ear and shoulder for her teenage grandchildren. She loved and admired her soulmate Pete, listening to his long, intricate stories (most of the time). They had a life full of adventure together, making friends wherever they were in the world. She was an amazing, supportive and kind mom, who gave some of the best life and parenting advice. She was an avid book reader and loved riding her bicycle. She was an activist on many levels and would give anyone the shirt off her back if they needed it. Shortly before her untimely death, she told Pete that she was happy, that her life felt full.
They ended their romance while on a beautiful bike ride, awed by the raspberry fields and stunning views of Mt. Baker. Chris passed away on June 18, 2020, near Ferndale, WA.
Along with her wit and wisdom she had a charitable soul with an endless desire to give to others. Her giving ways led us to create this GoFundMe page in order to continue to fund a charity that typifies the organizations she wanted to see thrive.

Expose students to various cycling disciplines, including: touring, urban riding, track racing, mountain biking, and cyclocross racing
Offer an eight-week Build-a-Bike program to increase ownership of bikes
Provide training opportunities for students

The Major Taylor Project reaches more than 500 youth annually in middle and high schools in central and south King County and in Pierce County. In these areas, residents speak over 70 languages and represent over 80 nationalities. Our club locations are intentionally established to reach youth in underserved neighborhoods.
