Chris “Smitty” Smith is in Stage 4 cancer and homeless
Donation protected
Hello everyone. Happy holidays. My name is Michael Ledwitz and I went to Ocean Township High School. I’m reaching out to everyone because one of our own is going through a devastating situation. In the past months, I have seen Chris “SMITTY” Smith’s posts on Facebook. I came to realize that he is going through stage four cancer and LIVING IN A VAN and HOMELESS today. He is going through a very, very difficult and traumatic time in his life. As he comes to grips with his situation, the posts are very difficult to read, and he’s really struggling. I wanted to reach out to him and just give an ear of support and see how I might be able to help, so I reached out to him this past week not knowing if I would hear someone else on the end of the line. I didn’t, so I left a message, and he called me back today. When I spoke to Chris, he began to tell me that he’s in stage four cancer and he’s homeless, living in a van in Long Branch, New Jersey. It’s tough enough to be going through cancer, let alone the final stages of cancer as well as the final stages of one’s life, but to combat that with being homeless and living in a van is probably too much for most of us to bear. I don’t normally do this; matter of fact, I’ve never done this in my life to reach out to GoFundMe, but here’s a human being who’s really struggling and who’s struggling with his own existence on whether or not he’s gonna be here tomorrow. So I thought I’d reach out to everyone and ask for everyone to reach into their pockets and give whatever you can, whether it’s $5 or $100 or what have you, but with the amount of people that we all know, I think we really might be able to do something here just to help someone. So I ask of you, please reach into your pockets and let’s try and help Chris as best as we can.
Thank you and love to all,
Michael
