About me:

My name is Chris Wilke. I am a 20+ year environmental protection professional and activist with a focus on water, climate, toxics, and plastics. I have been to court, state legislatures, the US Congress, the UN, marched in the streets, stood in polluted rivers on 4 continents, sampled heavy metals from industrial polluted runoff, and documented oil spills, fish kills and illegal pollution. I have written OP Eds, UN Observer Declarations and public testimony, cleaned beaches and convened community meetings with environmental justice leaders.

We are running out of time in the fight against climate change. The rate of ocean heating and warming air temperatures is accelerating. 2024 and 2023 were the hottest years in the history of our species, and the number-one cause is fossil fuels.

I am forming a new non-profit organization called Climate Water Action to meet critical needs in the fight against the climate and water crises. Our goal is to connect local action to the global fight to avert the worst of the climate crisis while we still have time.

Climate Water Action is based in the Pacific Northwest, USA (WA, OR, NoCA). We push for local, regional, national, and international solutions to address the root causes of the climate and water crises. In particular, we work to accelerate a full, fast, and fair transition from dirty fossil fuels to clean renewable energy, while supporting environmental justice and building resilience for impacted communities, waterways and ecosystems. We fight against false solutions like new hydropower dams, water diversions and carbon capture and storage.

Your donation to this GoFundMe will be used as a crowd-sourced angel investor to help offset the expenses of setting up a non-profit corporation in the State of Washington and with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and carrying out direct advocacy in accordance with our mission.
