ATV amputee and family relief
Donation protected
This past NYE when most people were out enjoying time with their friends and family a father and son were fighting for their lives. Chris, a father of three, and Chris Jr, 7, have been two peas in a pod from the day Jr was born. They share the same fiery red hair and spitfire wit. If you are looking to laugh just sit by these two and you can’t help but crack a smile. They love to watch Boston sports, play hockey, fish together and most notably, are avid ATV riders.
On NYE Chris and Chris Jr. took their ATV’s out for a fun drive with Chris' friend Troy. The details as we have been able to pieice together are that, they turned around to head for home there was a collision. In a quick act of protection, Chris Sr. pulled Chris Jr. out of the way of Troy’s ATV plow which then resulted in Chris Sr.’s leg being severed.
Chris Jr. has a compound fracture to his tibia and to date has had three surgeries with at least one more big surgery to go. Chris Sr. hasn’t been as lucky. In an effort to protect his son, Chris Sr. lost his leg at the scene and has also sustained injuries to his chest and face and is currently in critical condition on a ventilator.
The paramedics, doctors and nurses at UMass Medical Center are hopeful that in time Chris Sr. will recover but it will be a long road full of hospitals, rehab centers and of course all of the bills that go along with this. As a single father and mechanic at Colonial West in Fitchburg, Chris Sr. makes a modest income to support his children and himself, but not enough to cover the thousands of dollars in medical expenses Chris Sr. has now incurred. Our goal is to help pay the families mounting medical bills in their time of need. Even the smallest of donations can go a long way in the recovery of this father.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, your support and love.
