The Gift of a Second Transplant
Many of you walked through this journey with us several times over the last year and a half. We were overwhelmed by the amount of love, prayers, and support we received for Chris during his bone marrow transplant and donor lymphocyte infusion. God certainly used your love and support to help Chris and our family through an extremely difficult time. We are so grateful.
For those of you who are not familiar with Chris’s story, he was diagnosed with CML, chronic myeloid leukemia in 2011 at the age of 25. He tried and failed every oral chemotherapy available, which eventually led to a bone marrow transplant in 2015 and a donor lymphocyte infusion last September. Chris has worked so hard to stay strong despite frequent hospitalizations and intense chemotherapy regimens. Unfortunately, Chris has failed every therapy they have tried.
The news that Chris’s cancer is yet again back is very tough, and this is a scary time, but we will not lose heart. He just completed a regimen of high-dose chemotherapy and they will soon attempt a second bone marrow transplant. We are praying and have faith that the second transplant will be successful and Chris will get through it without any major complications. We would be grateful for your prayers for that as well.
Chris has a lively, infectious personality, and there is truly never a dull moment when he is around! He has a huge heart for others. He brings immense joy to our family and all who know him. He is determined to fight this again, and so are we.
We have created this fundraiser to ask for prayers as well as to humbly ask for financial support. The many years of hospitalizations and illness have taken their financial toll on Chris and his family. The financial burden of fighting this disease is immense. His mom has once again taken a leave of absence from work to be with him as his primary caregiver, which is a tremendous financial strain. Above all, we are asking you to pray for Chris’s healing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support.
