Chris Heart Transplant Expense Fund
Hello, my name is Chris Kowalski and I received a new Heart, the ultimate Gift of Love on April 3rd, 2016. Its been a tremendous journey for me the past 3+ years. The heart problem started in Ocober 1999 and was ongoing due to CHF (Congestive Heart Failure). In May of 2014 I started suffering from Ventricular Tachycardia. A very serious condition I was lucky to survive because I already had a Defibrillating Pacemaker. This condition caused numerous shocks to reset my heart into a normal rhythm. Ventricular Ablations were attempted twice to no avail.
At this time it was decided that Heart Transplant was the only option. I moved back to Michigan from Montana in order to be put on the transplant list in 2015.
My Transplant Team is at the Spectrum Health Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This past May 2017, as all testing was going good I was allowed to move back to Bozeman Montana. I'm actually back to work on-site in the office again. Its been 2-1/2 years since I left the office, to work remotely while waiting for a heart. So amazing to be alive and back home again.
Due to the Transplant, I need ongoing rejection testing and follow up treatment, which means Traveling back to my Transplant Team in Michigan and to two other specialized facilities.
At the present time I have the following trips scheduled from Bozeman MT for Transplant Team visits and procedures/testing to:
DONE July 2017 Flight to Grand Rapids, MI
DONE Oct. 2017 Flight to Grand Rapids, MI
January 2018 Drive to Salt Lake City, UT
January 2018 Drive to Billings, MT
April 2018 Flight to Grand Rapids, MI
July 2018 Salt Lake City, UT
July 2018 Billings, MT
Ocotber 2018 Flight to Grand Rapids, MI
2019 Tests yet to be scheduled
My Go Fund Me account is set to assist with airfare, gas and lodging expenses. Testing will be ongoing for the rest of my life but just not as frequent after the first 3-5 years.
I have been blessed with health coverage that took care of true medical charges. I personally cover the deductible. It's just difficult to cover the extra Traveling expenses too.
I have set the Goal at $2,850 to cover estimated expenses for the treatment schedule above for 2017 and all of 2018.
Transplant Games of America are being held in Salt Lake City UT in 2018 and I would also like assistance toward that expense for Team Michigan.
Thank you so much for donating. 2017 Airfare for 2 flights back for testing were covered.
2017 = $1,050
2018 = Goal is $1,800
Travel for Testing = $1,050
Transplant Games of America = $750
It is so very much appreciated. Remember, you can also be an Organ Donor and Give the Gift of Life too.
God Bless you all.
Sincerely, Chris
