Chrissy's Care fund

Hi guys!
Im Michelle, and I've setup this fund for two of my precious friends. Please
read their heartbreaking story below.
Katie and Haley Harmon have experienced more heartache in the past few months, than any young couple should. In June of this year, Haley’s mom Kathy, who was the glue that held the Harmon family together, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. Katie and Haley, along with their family, quickly worked together to settle her affairs, and are still physically and emotionally recovering from the process, and the grief. Three months later on the first of September, while the wound of losing Haley’s mom was still fresh, a second tragic blow was dealt. Katie’s mom also passes away suddenly and unexpectedly. This has left both of the girls void of their mothers, at a young adult age.
Despite Katie still healing from years of trauma inflicted by her mother, the girls took time away from work and traveled to FL to help Katie’s brother, Jacob, make funeral arrangements for their mother. Upon arrival, they discovered that Katie’s disabled younger sister, 27 year old Chrissy, had been living with their mother in a state of neglect and abuse. The trailer they were living in was contaminated with trash, hoarded, infested with roaches and fleas, mildewed, and lacked basic household necessities. Chrissy was sleeping on an old, unclean mattress with no covering. Her clothes did not fit and what shoes she owned, had holes in them. The one material possession that was her primary source of comfort and happiness, were her stuffed animals. Unfortunately even these were old and tattered, soiled, and could not be salvaged. Chrissy not only lived day to day without her basic human needs being met, she lacked the essential care that is required for her disability.
Katie, Haley, & Jacob quickly realized they would have to intervene on Chrissy’s behalf, and this has now become their top priority. Jacob will file for emergency guardianship of Chrissy, and he will become her primary caretaker for the time-being, with the ultimate goal of all three sharing guardianship of Chrissy. They managed to find a Day Program she can attend in FL, until she can be relocated into a more permanent program on the coast, where she can receive the medical care she needs, and be surrounded by her loved ones who can advocate for her.
The task of ensuring Chrissy is properly cared for, will be a long and expensive one. The siblings are facing a mountain of uncertainties including legal battles, red tape and attorney fees. Her mother had no life insurance, and her father is also deceased. Chrissy receives disability income, but the funds are inaccessible right now due to Chrissy not currently having a living parent, or legal guardian. A death certificate has to be provided to start the guardianship process, which the girls know can take some time, since they’ve still not received the death certificate from Haley’s mother’s passing, 3 months ago. This means that all of Chrissy’s immediate needs including the cost of the Day Program in FL, attorney fees for emergency guardianship, replacing her belongings, and everyday care, have to be financially taken care of by Katie, Haley and Jacob.
These young adults have just begun to build their careers, families and lives, and could not have possibly prepared for so many financial hardships to befall them at once. Along with navigating the grief of losing their mothers, they are selflessly giving of themselves, their time, and resources, to give their sister the happy, healthy, meaningful life she deserves. If your heart is moved to do so, please donate to help their cause.
