Chrissy's Fight Against Glioblastoma Multiforme

Hi, My Name is Heather. This is a little long but so deserved. I am here to tell You the story of my Amazing Sister. My Sister has always been the strong yet stubborn one, most independent with a fight like no other. One thing is for sure no matter the circumstance, she has always walked in Faith with God by her side. As long as I have known her, she has always had a nurturing side to her and always been the one to see the best in everyone, which is why she makes such an Amazing nurse, Mother, Wife, Sister, Friend and Daughter.
You see, she is normally the one taking care of patients, not the patient herself. She has saved lives and helped people for years as a Nurse, Aide or even on random events in public, such as a lady choking on french fries. She has brought families back together who were once separated; she helped random people who she didn't know with their marriages and actually helped save a few. She was willing to let someone use her own body for their unborn child and to carry and protect their baby for them. She has picked up hitchhikers and people that needed a ride. Her acts of kindness have been left all over, and she has touched so many lives through it all. She has an Amazing job as a Nurse Educator, which she has talked about for years prior, and she loves what she does. I hear her stories of how she has helped so many students, whether it be with actual academics or with something in their lives, or maybe both. She has worked hard to get where she is at. It didn't come without a fight. I remember she had Eli, her youngest and not long after, she was going to Nursing School, taking her pillow to sit on because she just had him a few days before. She was determined to be there and take that test, and she was. Her determination is something in itself. If she puts her mind to it, she does it. That is what we are here for; she is now in need of our help, and we can help her and her family through this battle to fight! Doesn't matter how much; nothing is too small. My sister is selfless and doesn't want the help, but I know a little help can go a long way. She would do the same for Me!
Chrissy is a healthy, active 40-year-old with a Husband, Chris and her three children, Adelie, Aubrey and Eli. As mentioned above, she is a Nurse Educator for a local college and loves what she does. She has always loved life and seen the best in everything, even when it looks so grim. Chrissy had some weakening over the past few months in her right arm and leg, feeling foggy and disorganized at times and primarily normal symptoms after a long day or a hard workout at the gym. As a Nurse or anyone in the medical field, you put it off and think it's nothing. No one wants to be that person in the ER that goes for something that turns out to be nothing. If You didn't know, a Nurse is the worst patient! Haha! It wasn't until one day at the gym that she knew something was wrong, she couldn't do her usual routine(monkey things and headstands), things were heavier than usual, and her leg wasn't working right. We won't even discuss knocking beer off the shelf at Wally World days prior! She knew something was off and took herself to the ED to get checked out. What she didn't realize is in seconds, her life would change forever as it was. The doctor came and told her the one thing nobody wanted to hear. "You have a mass on your brain." She told us she felt it would be bad news; she just had a gut feeling. She was then admitted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she had a Craniotomy with a Tumor Resection. She went through Surgery smoothly and was told they got it all except that it was most likely malignant. The Doctor said to be prepared for Grade 3 or 4 Glioma. The Doctor was correct; Chrissy has received an actual Diagnosis with Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme. This cancer is very aggressive and fast-growing. There are so many different types, and ways to treat each one are different.
There is more genetics to this diagnosis, but she doesn't have back exactly what all that is but should soon. There are different ways to go about battling this cancer with a different course of treatment depending on the pathology of the genetics of the actual tumor. These treatments are very costly, along with the drive to Wilmington Daily back and forth. She starts Radiation hopefully on September 13th and Chemo also. This will last six weeks, and then another MRI checks to see the progress. These types of medical bills will put a strain on anyone, even my sister and her family. We are asking for donations to help pay for things like:
Medical Bills
Gas for Appointments
Groceries for the Family
High-Cost Treatments, Vitamins, Chemo and more.
Hotel Stays if needed for any treatments
Clinical Trials
Work Leave
Etc.
From our Family to Yours, we can never Thank You Enough for helping and donating to My Sister and her family in this time of need. She has given so much to others; it is now a time when they could use our help. I will tell You one thing. I do not doubt in my mind that this Cancer is going to have a hard battle. Chrissy is a Fighter and will not give up. She will fight, and her FAITH in GOD will allow her to do just that! She is an inspiration to so many and will be to so many more. Her Fight already has been something so eye-opening to myself and others; Maybe it will be to You too!
Isaiah 41:10
Do Not Fear, for I am with You; do not be dismayed, for I am your GOD. I will strengthen You and help You; I will uphold You with my right hand.
