Christa Kelley-Pugh Family Needs Our Help

My name is Karissa Houghtaling. These beautiful, happy people above are my dear family. I can not even believe I am having to create one of these. It’s heartbreaking! My cousin Christa is currently still in the hospital after the surgery for a brain aneurysm. She has 3 small children that are anxiously waiting for her to come home. Christa is so humble, selfless, and giving that she felt embarrassed even wondering if this is something that qualifies as needing help. That there’s people out there that need help more than she. However, in my opinion, and the opinion of people who have been asking how they can help, this is something, she is in a sense fighting for her life, for her children, living with a brain aneurysm for a month could’ve been fatal. It can still be. When she found out she made the choice. The choice was hers to keep working, to keep feeling sick, to keep trucking along, to keep trying to get things together, to be there emotionally for her family so they can prepare for this day. To be here she made a choice and took a chance and today is the day where we see where her fate lays.

There’s no way to tell what is going to happen. Some complications that are delaying her discharge are dizziness, seeing spots, not able to walk or balance, heart rate high, she is to be seen by a physical therapist to help get her to walk. This is still very scary and uncertain. All I know for sure is that at the very least she is out of work for at least 6 weeks or more, Bill has to take time, the kids are without mama for some time while she heals. That’s the best case scenario. She has a long road to recovery and sadly enough, she may develop more, but let’s talk about the positive. She’s an amazing mama, wife, preschool teacher, daughter, sister, cousin, friend. We come from a long line of believers and a lot of faith, we sure have our share of angels looking over her and with all that I am sure she will be ok, I pray she will. But my job right now is to ask the for help, anything will help and prayers, please we need the prayers. As I sit here in my emotions, with fear in my heart, I know she is also very blessed with everyone that’s been there for her already during this trying time, I know there’s people who love her, I know there’s people out there that want to help even because they hear her story.
