Christian DeCola TBI Recovery Fund

In the early morning hours of Feb. 13th, Val and Andy received the phone call that is every parent's nightmare "Your son has been in an accident. He is unconscious in the ICU. You need to get here (Hawaii) as soon as possible." Since that call, Christian has had a procedure to stop bleeding in his brain as well as had his shattered knee reconstructed. Luckily, Val was able to book a flight for herself while Andy stays in NJ caring for Penelope and Jax. Christian is receiving wonderful care in Hawaii with his mother by his side. Unfortunately, the hospitals there are "out of network" and the cost of his care is going to be astronomical. With them being so far away, it feels like there is little we can do to help, but what we can do is help alleviate some of the stress of the ever growing medical and care expenses. Every little bit helps!
Anyone who knows Christian and Val knows that they are always the first to jump in whenever someone needs a helping hand. From coaching soccer, to PTA, to any Maple Shade fundraising events, you can always count on Val and Christian to be there helping out! Christian is a "theatre kid" through and through... on stage, at work at PJ Whelihans or even just sitting around the house, you can always be sure that if Christian is around, you are sure to be laughing and smiling! He has a long road to recovery ahead and should be focused on healing instead of medical bills.
On behalf of Christian, Val, Andy and the entire DeCola/Ashmen family, we thank you for your anticipated love, care and support. They will provide updates as soon as they are able to. In the meantime, we respectfully ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers while refraining from reaching out to them directly for the time being. As you can imagine, this has been unbelievably overwhelming and it is very difficult to keep up with all of the texts, fb messages and calls, especially with the time difference. If you wish to reach out, please feel free to contact Michele Liberton or Candace Ashe or you can send a message with any questions or well wishes through the “Contact” button below & we will respond as soon as possible. Thank you again for you love and support!
⭐️AMAZING NEWS!!! ⭐️
Update from Val:
❤️ Christian has been cleared to fly home. We will be departing Honululu via Medical Transport on Monday, 2/27. Upon landing he will be transported to another facility closer to our home where I will reside with him for the first week and we will both have the support we so desperately need Thank you for all of the prayers, memes and support! Thank you to my friends and family who updated everyone when I was too shaken to speak. Thank you to our family and friends who took care of our Penelope and Jax! Well, just thank you!!! I definitely had my moments out here (sorry friends, family and Andy) and endured things that no one should have to endure but at the end of the day - I am bringing our boy home!!!! Just a few more days!!!
As this medical transport is another out of pocket expense (approx $20,000) we would be most appreciative if you would continue to share our gofundme page. ❤️
