Christian Kaden Furman, a beacon of courage, light, and humor, passed away on March 10, 2024, in Bay City, Michigan, at the age of 21. Born on February 7, 2003, in West Branch, Michigan, and raised by his proud parents Tracy and Jenise (Willavize) Furman. Christian's life was a testament to the power of positivity and resilience in the face of adversity.
A 2021 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, Christian was a current student at Central Michigan University, where he continued to pursue his educational goals with determination and grace. His academic journey was one of many facets of his life where he demonstrated his ability to adapt and push through obstacles.
Christian's love for life could not be dampened by the challenges he faced after being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the tender age of six. Instead, he chose to embrace every moment with a quick wit and a loving heart. An avid video gamer, he found joy and camaraderie in the virtual worlds he explored with friends. His sharp sense of humor and ability to face reality head-on made him a cherished presence in any gathering.
He was a keen observer, often found people-watching and drawing insights that he would share in his gentle, funny manner. Christian's encouragement to others was a natural extension of his loving nature. His presence was a source of strength and inspiration, and his ability to lift spirits was unmatched.
The summers of Christian's youth were filled with adventure and camaraderie as he attended 2 special needs camps, MDA Camp and Trails Edge Camp. Each place held a special significance for him. The experiences and friendships he forged were highlights of his year, providing him with memories to cherish and stories to share.
Christian leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his devoted parents, Tracy and Jenise; his siblings, Brandon and his wife Markie, Bryant, Brianna, Anthony Ward, Jasper, McKenzie, Brayden, Bella, and Brezlen; his grandparents, Danny and Janet Willavize and Philman Furman; and his special friend, Rachel Betancourt. He also leaves a legacy of love with his several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles and cousins. Christian was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nancy Furman, whose memory he held close to his heart.
