Christian "Garrett" Whitley

This fundraiser is to help provide financial support for gas, lodging and other necessities while searching for answers to bring Garrett relief from a medical phenomenon that began on February 14, 2024. On that day Garrett woke up not feeling well and complaining of stomach pain. His behavior was unusual to all that care for him and later that day was admitted to the hospital in Beaufort County, NC where he was treated for several days, before being airlifted to Greenville, NC due to his declining overall condition. He has many secondary diagnosis for his intellectual disability including global developmental delay and generalized epilepsy but he was born with a chromosomal deletion of 15q11.2 and 16p13.3. Anyone who meets Garrett is instantly drawn to his love, laughter and happy spirit that his family and so many others can't wait to endure once again. He was diagnosed and treated for COVID-19 and sepsis during the initial hospitalization in February and relapsed about three weeks later. He is now at Duke University Medical Center again being treated for sepsis of an unknown origin and they are still searching for answers. He had been seizure free for many years but now is being treated for seizures, hypertension with tachycardia and Rhabdomyolysis (a condition in which skeletal muscle breaks down). It has been difficult for the doctors to manage the tremors and full body muscle contractions which are causing him a lot of pain due to not knowing the cause. With your prayers and support his family will have the ability to continue to be by his side through this long journey to recovery. We all would love to see that happy, fun loving demeanor ASAP.
