Christian Hampton's Medical Fund

Dear Family & Friends,

We are launching this page to help our nephew, Christian Hampton, offset the medical expenses associated with his upcoming open-heart surgery.  Christian is a 21-year-old junior at Temple University in a pre-med track. His interest in studying medicine began when he was diagnosed at age 11 with Marfan syndrome that required frequent medical appointments and tests. Marfan syndrome is a Connective Tissue Disorder that affects many body systems with cardiac issues being the most concerning and often life-threatening.  Due to the complexity of the procedure, there are only a select few cardio thoracic surgeons that are experienced in performing this surgery.  After traveling and interviewing a few of the skilled and knowledgeable surgeons, Christian ultimately decided to have his surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

In just a few short weeks on March 4, 2020, Christian will undergo open-heart surgery to repair an aortic root aneurysm that has reached a very dangerous dilation.  He must have this surgery to prevent an aortic dissection or rupture. Christian is expected to be hospitalized for 5-7 days, and his family will be staying by his side during his recovery. Christian, and his family, are going to incur astronomical expenses during this time including medical debts, out of pocket expenses, hospital charges, and housing, meal, and travel expenses, just to name a few.

People who know Christian would agree that creating this fundraising page is a way of bringing things full circle.  Christian has donated countless hours to helping others.  He has used his artistic talents to design t-shirts that were then sold to raise funds for others who have faced extreme medical expenses.  He also designed many images for his high schools’ various groups. What is more, he has dedicated countless hours to raise awareness for other causes. These are just a few examples of his willingness to volunteer and help others, while never collecting any fees. Now that Christian is the one in need, our hope is that you will feel compelled to help Christian and his family offset the expenses associated with his open-heart surgery by donating to this fund.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated to assist with this financial burden.  All funds raised will go directly to the Hampton Family.  More specifically Christian’s mother, Marijaye Tyson-Hampton, and father, Michael Hampton, will be receiving the money directly, and using it towards the above mentioned expenses. We know they will be extremely grateful. Our intention for initiating this page is to ease the financial stress for Christian and his family during this already extremely stressful time. Please keep our nephew, his family, his surgeon, and his medical team in your prayers during this time of uncertainty.
