Christie and Devvon

This is for Christie Barnhart and her husband Devvon Barnhart. Christie works as a nurse at The Pines a long term care home for the elderly and Devvon a roofer. Christie is experiencing her first pregnancy, for the most part her pregnancy went fine. However at 20weeks it was found that she had a short cervix, also known as cervical insufficiency, upon examination they noted she was also dilated 1cm. Christie was put on medical leave right away and was asked to go back to UHNBC in PG for a surgery called a cerclauge which is a stitch put in the cervix to close it up. This happened July 7th. She sent back for her 2 week follow up ultrasound and exam and it was found that the cerclauge may have failed. It was then determined that she and the baby needed a higher level of care. She was then transferred to BC Women's Hospital down in Vancouver BC. Christie and Devvon were told that due to the uncertainty of cervical insufficiency it would be best to prepare for a preterm baby and expect to be staying in Vancouver until November or longer. Depending on how everything turns out with this pregnancy. Christie has been put on modified bed rest, also was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes so now a new thing to deal with. For now they will be staying at Easter Seals House to be close to the hospital. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
