Christie-Rae Mercy Destiny Thomaidis Dixon Lee, born April 17 1999 in New Westminster British Columbia, passed away suddenly on Friday May 12 2023, at the age of 24. This was a shock and significant loss for her family, friends and anyone that was blessed enough to have known her and been touched by her kind and gentle spirit.

Christie was a Nisga’a citizen from the Nisga’a Nation, located in the Nass River valley of northwestern British Columbia.

Growing up in the Delta-Surrey area, she would often spend time at Métis Family Services, learning the art of Judo and how to perfect the dance of Jigging with Mooshum’s Little Métis Jiggers. Christie performed Jigging at community events, throughout the lower mainland, with the West Coast Métis Jiggers. Christie gave back to the Métis community by volunteering and teaching Jigging to many children.

She successfully graduated from Sands Secondary School in 2017. Her strong work ethic was appreciated by Value Village and her current work family of Starbucks, where she worked as a barista from 2021.

Christie will be lovingly remembered as a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, auntie and friend. She is still a shining light in our community. Everyone who had the privilege of crossing paths with her knew her well and felt an instant connection. With her genuine warmth and infectious smile, she had a remarkable ability to make you feel important and valued.

Christie possessed an extraordinary capacity for compassion and empathy. She had a remarkable gift for recognizing those who were struggling and offering them a safe haven. She would open her heart and take them in, making them feel truly special and understood. Her unwavering support and unwavering belief in others inspired hope and instilled a sense of belonging.

Her impact on the lives she touched was immeasurable. Through her selfless acts of kindness and genuine care, she left an indelible mark on our community. Christie's legacy will live on through the countless lives she transformed and the love she bestowed upon others.

Let us remember her extraordinary spirit and the way she made each of us feel cherished. May her kindness and compassion continue to inspire us, reminding us to embrace one another with open hearts and to make a difference in the lives of those around us.

The outpouring of love has been overwhelming, and we appreciate all your kindness, love, and support during this difficult time.

We will be gathering in a circle to honor Christie with a Ceremony and Celebration of Life. More information will be shared regarding the ceremony upon arrangement details.

May this ‘Baby Girls’ Sweet spirit linger on forever while she dances in the sky! ✨
