Christina Barnes Chiari Malformation Relief Fund

Donation protected
Christina Barnes is a single mother of two sweet kiddos, Harper (5) and Braxton (2 months). While pregnant with Braxton, Christina developed a syrinx along her spinal cord, which is a complication of a Chiari 1 Malformation. A Syrinx is basically a fluid filled pocket that pushes on the spinal cord. It has caused weakness and numbness in her right side as well and difficulty walking, talking, swallowing and basically living a normal life.
Christina's has been unable to work since her symptoms began in June. This caused extreme hardship. Not only was she about to give birth, via c-section because of the syrinx, but Harper was set to start Kindergarten at a new school.

At the advice of her neuro team, Christina has been on bedrest in the hospital since Thursday. She has only been able to see her kids through facetime because of COVID.  She will have decompression surgery tomorrow which involves removing a bone from the base of her skull. The surgeon said he had never seen a srynix as large as hers and that it travels down her back.

Any money raised will go directly to Christina to help with any bills and expenses that arise. As you can imagine having a brand new baby and a young daughter is stressful enough to do without all of her health concerns and being unable to work.
