Christina Sakmar's Support Fund to Help Defeat Breast Cancer

Donation protected
As many of you may know, my mom, Christina Sakmar, has been in the hospital since the Saturday after Thanksgiving. What we were hoping to be just pneumonia or a cold has been found to be more serious.

She's had a cough for quite a few months now. Thinking it was originally a virus or long COVID, we noticed other things begin to come up recently that made us begin to worry. On Saturday morning, we convinced her to go to the ER to get a chest x-ray to see what's going on with her lungs. That changed to needing a CT. Through this, we found out that she has a tumor on her breast that has metastasized to her ribs and lymphatic system. Her one lung was completely collapsed from lymphatic fluid.

We transported her to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh early Sunday morning where they were able to drain much of the fluid from her lung over the past week. She has since been here getting various tests and a biopsy. As of now, we are still waiting to hear what the results of the biopsy are and what her next steps will be towards recovery.

She and the family are so grateful for the support, prayers, and love that has been shown this week. It has meant a lot to her and the family.

Thinking to the future though, I know this is going to be quite hard on my parents financially. I know my mom won't be able to work during the treatment and recovery process, and my dad being retired has a limited income. I am not sure what all will be covered by my dad's insurance, but I know they are going to need all the help they can get. Eli, I, and our extended family will be doing the most we can to help out. Though we are not ones to ask for this type of help, I believe my parents are going to need all of the help they can get.

Please, if you can or are able to, any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Even if it's not monetary, all prayers, love, support, and companionship are welcomed with open arms.

She would love to hear or visit with anyone and everyone that's wanting to reach out/come see her.

I will make sure to keep everyone up to date as best as I can. She got her biopsy on Tuesday, but we are still waiting to hear back on it. So right now, it's just a waiting game.

With love and hugs,

Noah
