Christine Aragon Lagos, WHS, Class of 95

Donation protected
Christine Aragon Lagos was a classmate of mine at Watertown High School, Class of 1995. Recently, I was informed that Christine has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer (lung, bones, brain). Today, she is undergoing a left total hip replacement due to the deterioration of the bone by the cancer metastasis.

Christine just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Aracely Alenna, this past November 2020. She has been caring for this newborn miracle while ambulating on a walker, which she has been using for the last several months of back and hip pain, which she thought was due to the pregnancy. Her back pain became so bad recently, that the doctors ordered a MRI of the spine and found the cancer and its spread, which they believe started in the lung. And the doctors saw that the cancer spread to other bones, including the spine, and to emerging tumors in her brain.

As she faces this courageous battle with cancer, her mother is now fighting Stage 3 colon cancer.

All of this happening, while Christine is still mourning the loss of her 19 year old son, Andy, due to suicide.

I cannot think of a nicer and more peaceful person than Christine. I remember her in school as very quiet, a quiet intelligence, a bilingual speaker, a creative writer, and talented musician. She sat in the back of the class amongst our classmates and their Beavis and Butt-head jokes. She put up with a lot with those silly, immature, yet very bright guys back in the day. Perhaps, that all helped her to be an awesome Mom to her son, Andy.

Christine is a Brandeis University and Purdue University alumni, mother, teacher, and proud Guatemalan-American professional woman. She deserves so much goodness from life.

With oncology surgeries and treatments, there are several costs and expenditures as one knows such as transportation, parking, time off of work, copays, deductibles, and more....like helping to provide for her daughter and the other precious children in the family, Adrian and Angie. Christine's husband, Miguel, is very supportive but could use any help at all to manage all of these personal challenges.

I don't need to explain any further how urgent the need is to help Christine and her family. Christine is a very spiritual and religious person, so she would love a lot of prayers and good deeds surrounding her and the world today.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Amanda Finn Holmes and the WHS Class of 1995
