Re: Request to Offset Medical Expenses
I am a Pharmacist seeking your help to offset major expenses associated with doing surgery and/or stereotactic radiation for the treatment of my skull-based Glomus jugular tumor.
This kind of tumor, which occurs in three of every one million persons, is mostly benign with a four per cent chance of becoming malignant. I was diagnosed with the condition in February 2019.
Local and overseas specialists recommend that I do treatment abroad due to the rarity of the tumor and the location of the growth. The tumor has already damaged four of five nerves in that region of my skull which has resulted in a number of complications including excruciating pain and spasms, gradual loss of speech, numbness to my face and palpitations. The various complications have lessened the quality of my life and made me susceptible to pneumonia.
The following are the major expenses involved:
Radiation treatment - US$30,000
Surgery - US$120,000 (approximately)
Consultancy - US$350 to $750 per visit / specialist
Surgical treatment to correct vocal paralysis (quote not yet available)
Speech Therapy – to learn how to swallow, minimizing aspiration - J$10,000 weekly
Bi annual imaging (MRI + CT) - US$450 to $1,200 per session
My loved ones and I are experiencing much difficulty to come up with the sum for the various procedures. Much of my resources were depleted to do the various diagnostic tests. I would be extremely grateful if you or your organisation could respond favourably in this regard.
Other donations may be deposited at Jamaica National Bank:
JN USD account RSV 2094443288
JN Jamaican $ RSV 2094380243
Warm Regards
Christine
