Christine Canty Kenney's Journey

Hello, my name is Jaden Christiansen, and I am creating this GoFundMe in order to help ensure that Christine Canty Kenney, and the Kenney family, are able to continue receiving the treatment she needs to overcome a cancerous tumor located in her brain.

Since September 2021, Christine Canty Kenney has been experiencing severe headaches and cold symptoms. After several visits to her doctor, she was informed that her symptoms were likely the results of a sinus infection. In order to treat this diagnosed sinus infection, doctors prescribed Christine various medications: however, her symptoms continued to escalate at an alarming rate.

By February 11, 2022, after months of loss of vision, memory loss, cold symptoms, Christine's symptoms showed no sign of improvement. As a result, her sister, Bridgette, rushed her to the Emergency Room. After performing tests, blood work, MRI, and CT Scans, doctors discover a large mass located in the front of the brain.

Christine's family learned that the mass was, in fact, a cancerous neuroendocrine carcinoma located within her brain. Initially, the Kenney family planned to treat the cancerous tumor through rounds of chemotherapy.

By the morning of Tuesday, February  22nd, Christine's vision had decreased to the point of near blindness. Electing to perform a last-minute surgery in order to relieve the pressure in her head. After 10 hours of surgery, her doctors were able to remove 95% of the tumor.

Since her surgery this past Tuesday (February 22nd), Christine has been under observation in the intensive care unit at UCI Medical Center. While her doctors were able to remove 95% of the tumor, there is still a concern for the rest of her body. Moving forward, Christine is expected to undergo more tests to ascertain the health status of her throat and sinuses as a whole.

Due to the cost of treatment, as well as the financial strains introduced by COVID-19, I am hoping to raise funds to assist the Kenney Family in their time of need. Any donations are incredibly appreciated and will go directly to the Kenney's to cover Christine's accumulating medical costs. I have known Christine, through my friendship with her daughter, Rachel, for the past 12 years. Not only is she like a second mother to me, but she is also an amazing woman, integral to our community here in Laguna Beach.
