Christine Harker Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Christine Harker was my niece and I am trying to raise money for part of her funeral expenses as well as a memorial stone for her final resting place. Christine was a remarkable person, the daughter to my sister Susan, and a great friend to everyone she met. Christine was born on Christmas Day, but she had to live her life with several disabilities from her mother having the German measles during pregnancy. Unable to hear and barely see for years, Christine learned remarkably well and overcame those setbacks. She attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind , managed to work a job at the food court at James Madison University, and brought joy to her family, friends at church, and everyone she met. She was able to live on her own near campus and brought a smile to this world. About two years ago, Christine became ill with cancer and decided to have a bone marrow transplant. Early on it looked like the doctors at UVA had found the answer, but the cancer suddenly came back and Christine passed away. Upon visiting the cemetery this past year, I saw that a marker had still not been put on Christine's grave, and looking into it further I found out that without life insurance due to her disabilities, her immediate family could not cover all of the costs and still provide a memorial stone. There are still funeral balances to pay as well as the stone to be purchased. I, Brian Cooper, her Uncle am trying to collect funds to pay off the funeral expenses, and provide for a memorial stone, The original amounts for the services total over10,000 dollars but any amount that we can collect will greatly help her family. Thank you for listening to the story of the beautiful life of Christine, a girl who made everyone she met a better person.
