Hedrick Tuition & Medical Overflow

Christine's battle with Stage 3 breast cancer began in 2012.  Following chemo and radiation treatments and a bi-lateral mastectomy, an initial breast reconstruction took place in 2013.  The implants were fraught with problems, and her body responded with infection after infection, until they had to be removed.  A 9-hour second reconstruction TUG surgery was completed in November 2014, recovery was going well, and the future seemed good.  Christine continued to home school her three children.

During a routine oncology visit between Christmas 2014 and 2015 New Years, Christine's doctor said that her lungs seemed to be functioning at less than optimum.  Many tests later, her cancer has been identified as Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, involving her lungs, liver, lymph nodes, and bone.  Chemotherapy as well as focused brain Radiation for brain lesions was done. All tumors shrank dramatically. In fall 2015 the current chemo was no longer holding back disease  with more invasion of bones, so the chemo was changed again. Whole brain radiation was done in August after scans showed more brain tumors.

In fall of 2014, Christine felt impressed to seek out a classroom environment for their children, but no financial solution presented itself.  With spiraling health degradation during January 2015, the thought popped into her head again, "Do we want to enroll our children back in school?" This time their family stepped out in faith and made the decision to place their three children in Center Place Restoration School, a private Christian School.  Removing the burden of education from Christine's shoulders was the primary objective, allowing her to get through chemotherapy treatments and on the road to healing.  The school placement has brought the family peace of mind, with the added benefit for the children to be placed in a protective, secure, trusted environment with loving teachers whose philosophies and studies mesh with their family lifestyle.  This will allow Samuel (11th grade), Benjamin (8th grade), and Rachel (6th grade) to continue to grow in their education and faith in God, with the added benefit of allowing them a creative, social outlet, to "just be kids" and to be surrounded by friends outside the home for their support during this family crisis (instead of being home 24/7 with a sick mom).

God having promised to meet all their needs, the Hedrick family is now trusting that the tuition expenses (approx $10,000 per year for all three students), plus lunches, transportation (CPRS school is 45 minutes away and treatments in Kansas City are 1.25 hours), and overflow medical expenses will be met in abundance.  With God's grace, every need will be met!
