Christine Lorelli Celebration of Life

Donation protected
It is with a sad heart and disbelief I must announce that on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 3:45 am, Christine Lorelli - my mom, my best friend, and the strongest woman I know took her final breath after a long battle with cancer.

I may be bias, but my mom commanded a room. Always humble but an unsung hero in all aspects of life. From an early age, she was tasked with caring for and raising her 7 siblings on a farm in Iowa, honing her skills as the most incredible mom any girl could ask for.

She took her knowledge of hard work and desire to travel the world and joined the United States Air Force, serving our country proud as the second woman in history to be a member of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.

At 23, she met the love of her life, Ernest Lorelli, and their love story is one for the ages. One of my only solaces in our loss is knowing that for 42 years she was loved every single day in the most incredible way.

At 30, she became a mom and words cannot describe how fortunate, blessed, and honored myself and my brother are. The bond we share is indescribable. Soulmates who conquered the world together for 35 years. One of my only solaces in our loss is knowing there is nothing in this world I wish I could have told her. We were beautifully intertwined and I will miss her every single day for the rest of my life.

My mom was also a beloved teacher, touching the lives of so many children, parents, and teachers. An avid reader, an intellect, and an ultimate educator. A lover of animals, nature, and ensuring that in all things she undertook she did well.

To honor my mom, in lieu of flowers and the like, we are creating a memorial bench and memorial tree at her favorite park, Floyd Lamb. It is a special place for our family as it was where we walked our dogs regularly, watched the wild life, and enjoyed life together, even as her cancer progressed. It will serve as a place to go and remember and celebrate her beautiful life.

We thank you for the outpouring of love we have received and the interest in helping honor my mom. Any monies donated above our goal will go towards other celebrations of life, including a service at St. John Neumann Catholic Church and a memorial bench at Simmons Elementary and/or donations to research now very near and dear to our hearts.
