Christine Martinez family

In the very early hours of Friday, February 3, 2017, Christine Martinez was killed in her home. She left behind four children and a legacy of hard work and deep faith. Only a few months before, the family had moved into the home they had earned through Habitat for Humanity, and though the heart of that house is now gone the children want to stay together in the home to honor their mother’s memory and her efforts at giving them a better life.
Christine Martinez was a precious soul, and although her life was stolen from her at only 37 her legacy of love and sacrifice will linger into eternity. A single mom of four (Chris, Michael, Jasmine, and Ariel) she fought tooth and nail to provide for her cherished ones and to exemplify a raw faith that always clung to hope, even during a time when the family was homeless and living in their car. She was never a beggar, but instead would consistently take steps of faith and trust God to handle the rest. Christine took ownership of her life and circumstances. She did not whine and pout, but persevered. This special lady was a full-time student, employee, and mom. She raised her four kids in a one-bedroom efficiency apartment while still providing shelter for other young people in need. She was a giver, even to a fault, but wow, her God must beam when He brags on His daughter! She was confident, driven, and one tough chick. Nothing, absolutely nothing, would prevent her from succeeding, and her definition of success was entirely selfless, with her children the heartbeat of her existence. Christine loved Jesus, and although she was never short of words and was hilariously known for making up words and bouncing from topic to topic, her acts of kindness towards others are the proving fruit of her genuine faith in the Lord.
After graduating with a degree to become a surgical technician she found a job as a nurses’ aide and the family was seeing a light of possibilities for their future together. God kept moving by using her church family, Lifepath Church, to point her to Habitat for Humanity, and needless to say she was an ideal candidate to work for a permanent address for her family. She logged the almost 300 Sweat Equity Hours working on her own home and then worked extra hours to bless other future homeowners. Her house was painted powder blue, her favorite color, and her new lawn emerged a lush green following bountiful rains. After the house was dedicated she cut the ribbon, received her keys, and her children finally had their own rooms and could finally breathe deep.
We now have so many questions for God on why her victory was violently taken from her inside her new home. We are profoundly saddened at her sudden loss and her children desperately and courageously want to honor her legacy by continuing to live in this home to prove LOVE WINS OVER HATE. Christine exemplified the light of Jesus, so her children want to keep the lights on in their home. THEY NEED OUR HELP. Many have asked how they can bless this hurting family, so please offer her a note of encouragement, sympathy, and prayer while making a donation to the children of Christine Martinez. To know her kids is to know her as they each proudly display her joy, lust for life, and love for people.
