Christine's new kidney
Donation protected
My name is Christine Toves. Youngest Daughter of 5 and a caring mother of 2. When I was 18, I was expecting my first born baby girl on Oct.10,2014. Of course being 18 and still attending high school, I couldn't be any happier and overwhelmed at the same time. While being pregnant, I was having trouble with my blood pressure being so high. So high that I had to have an emergency c-section to save my child and I on Aug.27. Doctors diagnosed me with preeclampsia because my blood pressure got better when I delivered. Fast forward a year later, I was attending college trying to get my bachelor's degree. While I was walking to one of my classes, I had a really horrible pain in my chest, back and joints. I had this cold sweat and shortness of breath. Ofcourse I left school to go to the clinic thinking it was just the flu. I went to the clinic and was told that my heart enzymes were extremely high(heart attack). I was then rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. I was put through a lot of tests such as EKGs, Ultrasounds, and urine. Later, I was prepared for a kidney biopsy. My lovely nephrologist told me that I was suffering from IgA Nephropathy, an auto-immune disease. By the time we found out what was wrong with me, my kidney functions were already below 25%. Attending all my kidney appointments, things weren't really looking up. Today, I am undergoing dialysis treatment, but I would like to get a kidney transplant. Living on Guam, there are no transplant centers on island. So I humbly ask for your prayers, donations and support so that I may relocate to the United States mainland to pursue a kidney transplant. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. God Bless.
