Help Christine Kick Cancer

Donation protected

My name is Jackie and Christine is my mom. In 2007 she was diagnosed with colon cancer. She received surgery to remove 12 inches of her colon and during that surgery complications occurred that almost ended her life. As her healing process began staples on her wound were removed prematurely and a massive infection was the result. After another surgery, 2 weeks in the hospital not knowing if she would be coming home, and months of rehabilitation we finally thought we were in the clear. However, like with any cancer, the chance is always there of it returning. Last year, doctors found pre cancerous cells in her cervix and she received a full hysterectomy. During that surgery, her urinary tract and right kidney were damaged causing a mass build up of fluid (seroma) in the right side of her abdomen. She had a bag that was inserted via tube in her back to relieve her injured organs and release the fluid. After 9 years almost cancer free we received the devastating news that it had returned with a vengeance. This time attacking her liver, and so the battle continues. She has begun chemotherapy, in hopes it will shrink the mass followed by surgery to remove what is left. Doctors say she is a medical mystery. The amount of scar tissue that has developed over the years has made doctors say 'they never want to go back in there', but yet again, they have to. We are hoping for the best, but as you can imagine it is tiring, wearing and stressful. For what she has been through it amazes us how strong and positive she has remained. My mother has not been able to hold a job due to her medical issues. We have tried many routes to get her resources to survive but we have exhausted all options. She has been denied social security repeatedly. She has no means of transportation to get to her many appointments. She lives quite a ways away from her family and the hospital and will soon have to find a new place to live. This is where we hopefully step in and give her a chance to succeed and make her life a little better and worth fighting for. We would love to see her be able to either move closer to the hospital or be able to get there. Besides the monetary aspect, just knowing that people out there care will make such a difference in her spirits. My mother loves to spend her days caring for all of her plants as an avid gardener, and using her brilliant creativity to craft various projects. She is such a caring woman, and a beautiful soul who has been through hell and back again. She has just become a first time grandmother to my son Gavin and would of course love to see him grow. At the young age of 48 her time with us is far from over if we have anything to do with it! Thank you for reading about my mom and thank you for fighting with us!
