Christine's Time to LIVE!
Donation protected
My mom, Christine, was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. When voluntary muscle action is progressively affected, people lose the ability to speak, eat, move, and eventually breathe. With a life expectancy of an average 2-3 years after diagnosis, it is time for Christine to LIVE! My mom is currently on 2 different medication treatments to help slow the progression of muscle deterioration. The most recent appointment showed the progression of ALS. We are hopeful of slowing this down and having more time with my mama.
A little bit about my mom: She is married to my papa, Chris, and has 3 kiddos (Joey, Kevin, and I). She recently became a grandma, and as you can see in the photo her grandson is cheering her on! She also has 3 dogs that she adores and spoils. She grew up on a farm with her 2 brothers and is a very hard worker. She loves running, gardening, camping, hiking, and breakfast. My mom is an active person that is always on the go. She has been running races with her son Kevin. Only weeks before diagnosis she ran a half marathon! She runs an at-home daycare and loves her little kiddos. She also loves to talk, if you know her, you will be sitting there for hours just chatting.
With this, diagnosis brings a lot of pain and heartbreak, but this is the time for my mama to live her life to the fullest while she still can. My mom made a bucket list of things she would like to accomplish and a few of the things involved trips with family. I am creating this to send her and my dad on a trip to spend together, hopefully, sooner than later, while she can still walk. The goal is 3,500, but if it does go past this then we would use it towards medical bills and paying for handicapping the house.
Please share and pass this around! Thank you for your time and consideration. LET'S HELP MY MAMA LIVE HER HAPPIEST TIMES WHILE SHE CAN!
