Christmas at Our House
As many of you are aware, the holiday season can be difficult for those less fortunate. Every year, there are families within our own community who need help making ends meet. Whether it’s the loss of a job, a death in the family, hospitalization, house fire, or some other tragic event, misfortune can strike anywhere and communities such as ours are not immune.
Since 2002, the members of the Poland Fireman’s Association have come together to try to make the Christmas season just a little bit brighter for families in need. With the help of our local churches and schools, we are establishing a list of those families in the Poland Village and Poland Township. Your donations will be used to create a gift basket for each family containing a holiday meal and gift cards to be used to buy presents for the entire family. The Poland Fireman’s Association will deliver those baskets just before Christmas.
Over the last 18 years, we were able to make the holiday season a joyous occasion for several Poland families based solely on “neighbors helping neighbors.” This year we are hoping to continue this tradition, but we cannot do this alone. We are looking for cash donations of ANY amount. Please rest assured that your donations will stay in your community. All the families selected live in Poland and all purchases will be made from local businesses. Every dollar donated is used for this project; no monies are diverted or spent on anything else. Any monies received after the cut off date are simply held for next year. All donations are fully tax deductible and receipts are available upon request.
