Christmas Hampers for Kirkham District 2023

My name is Michelle, and along with my friends Diane and Lisa, we have set up this GoFundMe page to make a real difference in the lives of the local people in our community, especially as the holiday season approaches.

This is the fourth year we have organised this fundraiser, and with your generous support, we've successfully provided Christmas and Easter Hampers to those who truly need them during the past four years.

We call the Kirkham district, in the heart of the North West, our home. Like many areas around the world, our community faces significant challenges. With greater economic hardship and the holiday season drawing near, we recognize that the situation is more critical than ever.

Costs are significantly rising (even the cost of our produce, for the hampers has increased by over 40% in the past 2 years) The universal credit cuts and the rising cost of living have created a perfect storm, and we believe that this Christmas will be exceptionally tough for many families.

Our mission is to ensure that no one in our community goes without essential necessities, especially during the holiday season. We know of families who are struggling to afford fresh meat, vegetables, and even heating. We can't stand by and watch our neighborus go through such hardship.

So, we've set a goal to raise £4,000, and with your help, we aim to provide 100 deserving families from the Kirkham and district area with Christmas hampers. Each hamper will be filled with festive delights and essential groceries, valued at approximately £40. These hampers will include a 2kg Turkey crown, a 0.75kg loin of Pork, pigs in blankets, fresh vegetables, potatoes, fresh eggs, Christmas puddings, and anything else we can afford or receive through donations.

We're grateful to have the support of several local businesses that are willing to provide food for these hampers at cost price. This means that every penny you donate goes directly towards making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Any funds that remain after covering the hampers will be used to support local families with weekly groceries in January, an initiative we've successfully carried out in the past.

Our fantastic partners, including Wyre Farm Meats and Annies Egg Shed in Newton, are dedicated to helping us make this project a success. Together, we can ensure that our neighbors have a brighter and less worrisome Christmas this year.

We need to raise the money by December 4th to guarantee placing the 100 food orders with local suppliers at the discounted rates they have kindly offered. This will also allow us to let the families know that one more major concern has been taken off their shoulders this Christmas.

Each contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact. Every £ you can contribute will help us reach our goal and ensure that more families in our community have a warm and nourishing Christmas.
