Christmas will be a little different this year...

We have had a minor setback. Mateo tested positive for Covid yesterday the day before the surgery. So surgery has been pushed back to January 2nd. Please keep us in your prayers and that this surgery happens and has the best outcome possible. Thank you!

Many of you know some but maybe not all of the medical issues our little Mateo was born with. He has what is called Pierre Robin Sequence along with this comes multiple issues. Mainly breathing problems because his chin did not develop like we would have loved to have seen. So while he was in the NICU he had a G-tube put in and he also had what is called a Tongue Lip Adhesion. This procedure attaches his tongue to the bottom lip in hopes that his chin will continue to grow. That will normally stay attached until 10-12 months if they see the chin progressing and they would also repair his cleft pallet at that time too. After his visit to the ENT in OKC last Thursday the Dr. decided that there was not enough improvement in his chin and we will not wait to see if the chin will progress any longer on its own. So our little man is having to prepare for his 3rd procedure, and this will be a pretty invasive surgery. He will be having Jaw Distraction surgery on December 12th. The Dr. felt it needed to be done quickly and did not want to put it off until the beginning of the year. So, with this procedure he will be hospitalized for 14-19 days at the OU Children's Hospital in OKC. As you can imagine we are exhausting every avenue to make sure we can be there for them in every way possible. They are on the list for the Ronald McDonald House but will not find out until basically the day of the surgery if they have an opening for them. We know this is a tough time of the year to ask for help but if you can it would be greatly appreciated and such a blessing to our family. And please keep us all in your prayers during this time.
