It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of an amazing, thoughtful, creative and justice-minded young man, Christopher A. Howze, after a prolonged battle with cancer on January 10, 2024.
Following his graduation from River Hill High School in Maryland, Christopher was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor during his freshman year at Morehouse College in Atlanta. While attending college in person and virtually, he undertook a rigorous course of chemotherapy, radiation and various therapies at the Mayo Clinic and other facilities to battle against his diagnosis. We are thankful for the medical professionals and ALL those, near and far, who have been involved in Chris’ care and unwavering support over the years.
During his battle, Christopher was positive, held to his faith and continued his studies at Morehouse as he was able, until his health required him to take a leave of absence during his senior year. Thankfully, Morehouse College, which Chris loved so much, bestowed him the degree he worked so hard to achieve just prior to his transition. This act of kindness and accomplishment meant a great deal to Chris, his family and his friends at such a difficult time.
In a show of love and solidarity and in lieu of flowers and gifts, we are taking action by establishing a memorial fund to help Christopher’s family cover the funeral expenses and exorbitant medical expenses incurred during his brave fight.
Lastly, we ask that you continue to join us in praying for peace, comfort, and healing in every possible way.
Thank you.
