Hello my name is Lexi. And I’m asking for your help in raising money for my cousin who is a single dad of 3 kids who just lost everything he owned.
You think you’re having a bad day because you woke up to dog poo on your way to the kitchen, you spilled your morning coffee, got a flat tire and ran late to an important meeting. Now imagine this…
You just celebrated your 8th birthday, your mom was not there nor did she call, but you’re numb to it because she did the same thing at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, Mother’s Day and your dance recital. Your dad tries his best to be both mom and dad. He makes sure you feel loved and extra important. He takes you to get a new dress and little boot wedges. He takes you to get your nails done and reads you a bedtime story about a little princess who is loved by all. He’s worked so hard to give you the best life he can. He started a good job right after high school graduation. He bought a modest home for you and your brothers. In search to give you an even better life, he sold the house, purchased a property in a far away place and he packed up everything you love and need, all of your clothes, your toys, your books, and everything you and your brothers needed to make your new house a home. You say goodbye to your best friends and your family eager to see what this new life has in store. You leave on your road trip with all of your things in a big trailer. You drive for a few days, dreaming of what life will be like in the new place your dad worked so hard to make perfect for you. The trip was almost complete and you were so excited to arrive at your new home and pull out all of your toys and clothes and eager for your dad to cook up some celebratory steaks. Except one thing was missing… The trailer. As you slept in the hotel along the long drive, someone unhitched the trailer and took it for themselves…
You look up at your dad, eyes filled with tears. You could see that all of your dad’s plans for your perfect home were suddenly washed away. You wanted to tell him it would be okay but you wondered where were all of my toys, my clothes, my books, our photos of the home we grew up in and of mommy… You held in the tears, you were trying to be strong for your dad and your brothers… You ask yourself, what happens now? Without a toaster or microwave or dishes, how will you make your favorite waffles that you love, the kind with butter to soften them but no syrup because it makes them soggy?
This is a true story my friends. This is the recent story of my little cousin Cora Vae her dad Christopher and her two brothers Akely &Live.
If this story touched your heart and you would like to help, please please help. They could really use the help. I do know this.. Cora and her family’s story will change to one of resilience!!
