Christopher Ellington is VISION without SIGHT
Donation protected
On Monday, March 8th. 2021 Christopher Ellington was leaving his Tax office on the southside of Chicago when an unknown car opened fire on his vehicle. Chris sustained two gunshot wounds to his head causing him to lose his sight and one bullet to his left knee. One of the bullets exited out of his eye. I am not making this Go fund me because Chris is no longer with us. I am making this Go fund me because CHRIS IS STILL ALIVE! He has all of his brain function and his memory is intact. He is laughing and giving all the praise to God. This could have been a very different Go fund me account that I am creating so we are beyond blessed to still have Chris here with us today. After visiting Chris in the hospital he was very adamant about letting us know that this tragedy is not the end but only the beginning! He exudes positivity and knows that this is the start of something big.
Hellen Keller once said, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” A lot of people may use the words sight and vision interchangeably. However, that is certainly not the case. Chris is a pillar of his community with a vision. His vision is to spread financial literacy throughout the urban neighborhoods of the Chicagoland area and beyond. Chris knows that financial literacy has an undeniable positive impact on not just our urban communities but the world as a whole. Chris exalts in teaching classrooms full of students in various non profits. He has trained and helped many people obtain their tax preparers credentials while employing them at his business Max Tax on the south side of Chicago.
While Chris’s spirits are high and rejoiceful, we all know how hard it can be to recoup from medical expenses of this magnitude. Chris is going to have several surgeries on his eyes by the top optical professionals to try to restore his sight in one eye. He is going to need extensive physical and mental therapy in the upcoming days. When I proposed the idea of this Go Fund Me for him, He mentioned that he wanted to donate some of the profits to his family’s non profit group Vision, Sight and Purpose Mentoring program. After all of the things that have happened to Chris over the last month, he is still looking for a way to create and add value to his community. I’m humbly asking for donations towards Chris’s rise back to the top. Please donate time, money or any services that you think will aid him on this journey. It may be tough but together we can all help pull him through it. Thank you in advance!
