Christopher J. Bellnier Memorial Fund

Christopher John Bellnier, 64, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 28th after a courageous five-month battle with cancer. Chris was born on April 14th, 1959, in Auburn, New York to Sandra Spaide and John Bellnier. After graduating from Auburn High School in 1977, Chris enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, graduated honor man of his platoon, and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. While he had many stories of his time as a proud rifle expert, radio operator, leader, and general Jarhead extraordinaire, his most recounted tale was that of first laying eyes on Devy Lorine Varner while they were both stationed at Camp Lejeune. They married in 1988, and their 34-year long marriage was one of his proudest accomplishments and dearest treasures. He was an adoring husband, a playful and kind father, a loyal friend, and a master tradesman in the roofing industry. Chris was a bonfire philosopher, his movie collection outpaced most libraries, and his gift for humor, silly voices, and spontaneous songs is reflected in all his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his love, Devy, his son, Christopher William, and his daughter, Abby. He is survived and mourned by his siblings; daughters, Elizabeth and Katie (spouse: Brant); his son, David (spouse: Laura); and grandchildren Derek, Christopher Vincent, Elijah, Devin, Aleah, William, and Lorelei. Chris’ legacy of honor, generosity, humor, faith, and love will live on. May he rest in peace, and may his stories echo through the words and deeds of those that love him. Semper fi!
