Our dear friend, Chris, needs our help.
He has been living with kidney disease for the past number of years and requires a life-saving kidney transplant. Chris has been taking dialysis treatment for the past several months, and this treatment, coupled with the disease, is having a profound impact on his level of energy.
Christopher Iwestal Kinman has been a compassionate, deeply insightful, and articulate educator in community-based human relationships for decades. Those of us who have been fortunate to know him personally or have experienced his teaching and training have received the gift of seeing the world through a new lens, creating a life-altering understanding of what it means to be human and connected with those around us.
The effects of this disease have also significantly impacted his ability to work or enjoy any of the usual life comforts that the majority of us have. These past few years of being unable to work full-time have drained Chris’s finances. Canadian health care is no longer the global standard that it once was. Thus, there are extraordinary costs associated with the transplant and his post-surgery care.
Additionally, Chris will need to move out of the home he has lived in for several years on June 1st and will require a new home as soon as possible. He is also hoping to have his transplant surgery in Vancouver this coming fall and will need to live in Vancouver for three months after the surgery to receive follow-up treatment.
We are deeply grateful for any contribution you can make. We aim to raise $90,000.00 to assist Chris with moving from Penticton to Vancouver and his rent, travel, incidentals, and ongoing medical costs over the next several months.
