Christopher Lusby Memorial College Fund

On Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, our hearts were shattered by the unexpected passing of Christopher Lusby. The world lost a caring husband, father, son, friend, colleague, and clinician on that tragic day.

Chris was married to Melissa, his high school sweetheart, and had two beautiful children, Benjamin (10) and Bailee (8). He was a dependable and genuine friend who was loved by many. He didn’t give a second thought to offering help to others.

Chris earned a bachelor's degree in cardiopulmonary science and worked as a respiratory therapist in Louisiana and Texas before furthering his education in cardiovascular perfusion at the Texas Heart Institute. When Chris wasn’t working as a dedicated perfusionist at the UTHealth Medical School in the Texas Medical Center, he enjoyed fundraising and training for cycling events such as the MS150 and Bike Around the Bay, running in races of various distances, hunting, and grilling for his family and friends. He also donated his time as a camp counselor to Camp Pump It Up, a summer camp for children with congenital heart defects.

With all of the emotional pain and stress that an unexpected death brings, it also brings financial burdens for loved ones. We have created this GoFundMe account to alleviate some of the financial hardships on Melissa and family by helping raise money for Bailee and Benjamin’s college education. All funds raised will be used exclusively to pay for college tuition and education related expenses.

It is in these times of loss and sadness when people come together to help one another. Please keep the Lusby family in your thoughts and prayers. We are appreciative of any support you may be able to provide.

Chris will be missed by all, but his memory will live forever.
