Christopher Cooley's Recovery Fund

My name is Melissa Cannon Robertson and I first met Christopher a few years ago.  He and his darling wife are FANTASTIC!!!  The following paragraphs were written by his sweet sister, Catherine.  Please help  in any way that you can.   He is in great need.  Thanks so much.

On the afternoon of December 23rd, we almost lost our witty, talented, hard-working and thoughtful friend, brother, son and husband Christopher Michael Cooley.

Christopher hasn’t exactly had the easiest year. He totaled his beautiful black SUV after being rear-ended by an inattentive driver, but was not provided the means to repair or replace his car due to the failing legal system. He has also explored multiple jobs this year after being deceived and misled about his future at his previous employment. During the winter months, he spent long hours in the bitter cold wrapping and attaching christmas lights to homes in the area to make ends meet. But these instances seemed to be nothing compared to this...

While doing a very routine repair on some christmas lights, Christopher slipped and fell from a 3 story house in West Jordan. While falling, he remembers thinking “this is it!" Due to a miracle from the Lord and thanks to angels guiding his fall, his life was spared! He landed face first on landscaping boulders (which are now broken) and was knocked unconscious from the fall. No neck or back injuries were sustained, and no paralysis occurred! He was later found by the owner of the home who called for an ambulance. He was able to tell her his exact injuries, although he does not recall this, which helped the paramedics know specifically how to care for Christopher. He felt he had broken his arms and jaw. The paramedics then rushed him to the hospital where they were able to get his pain under control and figure out what other steps needed to be taken. After X-rays and evaluations, they found that Christopher had broken his elbow, shattered his wrist, broke his cheekbone and his jaw in 5 places. The doctors said that Christopher should have died and the injuries he sustained were so minimal compared to what should have happened. Hallelujah!

2 days after Christmas, Christopher had 2 pins placed in his elbow, a plate placed to hold together the 9 shattered bones in his wrist, and has had his jaw wired shut. He will have to endure 6 weeks of a liquid diet until his jaw can heal. He is now out of the hospital and resting at home, but has a long road to recovery! His wife Mallory has been a total champ during this experience, never leaving his side and taking care of all the details and scheduling with doctors. Christmas has been a little different this year for both of them, but they have both kept smiles on their faces while enduring this hardship.

We are currently praying for Christopher to remain comfortable while he recovers and that worker's compensation will cover much of his medical and dental costs. In the meantime, Christopher is out of work indefinitely and will unfortunately have to take the whole semester off from school which delays his graduation from Utah Valley University. Mallory has also taken many days off from work to care for Christopher.

If you can spare a few dollars, we ask that you help this wonderful couple on their journey of healing! Anything would help. Please keep them and their families in your prayers!
