In support of our neice, a young woman left to grieve the tragic loss of her mother, Christy Giles. Christy was found dead in her home on sept 27/21 a day before her 45th birthday.
Christy spent the years, months and weeks prior to this day, seeking help working hard to be “well” ...she had always been highly intelligent, researching endlessly in hopes of finding help. She was subjected to the tortures of grossly outdated treatments and horridly unmonitored prescriptions.... grasping at and trusting in her fractured hopes, rising and falling in the hands of a failed system.
Christy fought courageously and relentlessly ... she longed for mental “health”. Her last few months were spend with her hopes rising and crashing as specialists and hospitals took her in, explained the next possible treatments, offering hope, then, changing their minds and turning her away... sending her home to deal with it on her own. Over and over, she would make her way to another doctor or hospital crying out for help... over and over, they would send her home alone. The system Christy reached out to, is fractured, and criminally insufficient... leaving her to spend her last moments on this earth, seeking solace from mental illness by writing messages to her daughter and other loved ones thanking us for trying so hard, and asking forgiveness, telling us, there is just no help for her. ... then, scrolling her final words and prayer on a wall beside her .... before taking her life to end the agony she could no longer endure.
We ask your kind support of our neice, 23... to assist with costs of her mother’s funeral, a memorial in her mother ’s honour, and much needed counselling and support for her through her grief.
